The following are bills that I signed onto this week as a co-sponsor:

H3468 – Child Protection – Establishes guidelines for how the medical community responds to pediatric emergencies.

H3501 – Disaster Preparedness – Establishes guidelines regarding the use of volunteers to respond to natural disasters and evacuations.

H3516 – Procurement Code Reform – Increases efficiency in the bidding process for certain term contracts.

H3525 – Consumer Protection – Requires cable companies to allow customers to choose channels on an individual per channel basis.

H3526 – Pro Life – Requires that the rights of due process and equal protection guaranteed by the U S Constitution begin at fertilization.

H3528 – Support for Military Personnel – Year by year exemption of property tax for military personnel who are deployed into a combat zone.

H3532 – Tax Reduction – Creates a tax credit for the purchase of long term care insurance.

H3537 – Transparency – Requires the Legislative Audit Council to conduct audits of individual school districts on a rotating basis.

Issue - Legislation in Progress

I am working on a bill to create the office of Inspector General who would report to the Governor. The IG would be responsible for ensuring that internal controls are followed and audits are performed at each state agency.
